[Notice] Shooting A documentary titled Is Water from Fukushima Really Safe

Since 24 August 2023, Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) has discharged in four batches a total of over 31,000 tons of Advanced Liquid Processing System (APLS)-treated contaminated water from the damaged Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant into the Pacific.

While serious concerns and oppositions have been voiced in as far-flung places as Micronesia and Nicaragua, nowhere else will the impact be immediately and acutely felt any more than along Japan’s northeastern coast, and in particular, Japanese fishermen in Fukushima Prefecture and adjacent areas. How do they live and cope with the consequences, be they good or bad, of the ocean discharge and how they feel about the days ahead? Global EAF plans to go there to find out. We will also interview people living on seaboard around the Pacific, particularly those who ply the ocean for a living, to ask for their opinions.

Voices from these ordinary people will then by presented along with views from experts in a documentary entitled Is Water from Fukushima Really Safe, which we hope to release in May/June 2024.
